I'm still trying to figure out why you bumped it when the last reply was in 2004.

Ah well, let it die a natural death. No point killing topics by closing them.

hate to be a spoilsport but to be honest with you... manpuku is c*ap...

it does not taste like proper japanese food...
it's just food that look japanese but does not taste japanese (¬¬)

try going to marutama ramen if you looking for good ramen ... ichibantei is quite ok too..
or Sapporo Ramen Miharu at Gallery hotel; definitely surpasses manpuku a million times

as for udon/soba, well it's quite challenging to find good outlets which sell superb udon/soba locally cuz most restaurants are using ready made udon. so the ones to date which serve the normal average soba/udon taste will probably be in places like liang court tsuru tsuru tei, tampopo (standard drop already) and akashi chain restaurants.

Central and Liang Court..

i still remembered when the outlet first opened in Central, we had a hard time trying to get our hands on the noodles as they were always sold out; but i doubt it is so nowadays...

it's written "Chow House"

Since the address is for Robinon Road, it is most likely not anywhere near amara.

Besides, Manpuku is run by the Ajisen group.

There's the very good but overpriced Shimbashi Soba at Paragon.

AJISEN RAMEN IS ACTUALLY GOOD!!! But you must know which outlet to go. And which flavour to choose. But i've been craving for curry bread ever since i have it in a hokkaido fair in sg

trust me.. if you find ajisen's ramen good... then you'll end up either ::

- finding the taste of actual japanese food 'unaunthentic' in your opinion OR
- finding actual japanese food millions times better tasting than ajisen
