I'm sure the new members always have questions. So yes, in the spirit of my ask anything topic (which I'll get to answering sooner or later), ask anything about the club and I (or any of the other members) shall try my best to answer. Unless I'm intellectually incapable of doing so, but that seldom happens. Or if something really really turns me off.

So yeah, don't feel shy - just ask.

Disclaimer: Oh and, please note that this is a fun topic so don't try and make us do your homework. We'll try to be as accurate as possible but we still indemnify ourselves from any potential lawsuits that may happen as a result of them. Don't hate me.

1)How much does it cost you for the trip to Japan?
2)Does the club subsidy anything?
3)How long did the trip last?

Don't to tell me how good the trip you all had was T_T, I saw the forum and it was really enchanting..T_T

1. read page 20 of the same thread. it'll tell you how much you need in order to survive there.

2. it is not an official jcg trip. it's planned on a private basis. hence, no subsidy (after all, our club is funded by your $10 membership fees. so you get the idea right? :) )

3. Japan trip 2008 featured in the forums officially lasted 14 days, with the exception of Aluca and myself who spent 20 days there.

Join us if you can in our next trip...we'll be planning another one for a shorter duration.

Hi there. I had PWs to do and I could not make it for the Annual Meeting. So I was wondering if there is another alternative way to collect our JCG membership cards? And what were the important things discussed during the Annual Meeting? Could you please update me? Mo ichido, GOMENASAI! =(

Don't have to wait for the card to attend, you can just join in and pester for the card(huhuhu I'm ebil XD). A card is for easy verification you as a member, unless they forgot to bring the member list or they don't have laptop with them so it's hard to tell if you're a member or not since you're still new.

The card looks like this:

Yes, you have to register on SEAL system too. Monkey wrote this guide afew years ago. lol

step 9. U'RE DONE!!!

step 10. please remember to log off. thank you.

the site is https://tp-eservices.tp.edu.sg/tpappl/eserv...s/cca/index.jsp

Login it with your Admin ID and Matric card barcode number(remember the 'T' infront) then select 'Student'.
example:

User Name: 0707175A
Exchange Password: TD090909
User Type: STUDENT
*Click [Login]

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/452/step1xsui7.jpg

*Click on 'Register Membership'

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7209/step2xsfa0.jpg

Organisation Type select 'INTEREST GROUPS(Others/Non-SAA)'
Organistation select 'Japanese Cultural Group'
*Click [Register]

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8811/step3xsal2.jpg

There will be a message saying you are pending for approval blah blah blah then once done, logout.

Once you registered the interest group I think any activity you had with TPJCG will be recorded and seal points will go directly to your seal system. Instead of having to register for an activity like the Annual General Meeting/Orientation. It will show on your 'Student Transcript' like this.

Hope you have a clear understanding of the SEAL pts and member's card thingy, see you at one of the events! :D

I can't really tell you much about the other subcoms, but as for Cuisine, if you don't have your membership card yet, when you sign up for events with me just let me know you're a member and I'll verify that myself.

Of course, when you do get your card, you'll have show them to me upon payment.

for members who have registered and paid up their registration fees before may 13th, their membership cards are ready for pickup.

for members who have registered and paid up after may 13th, we will inform you further once the cards are ready for collection (cuz your names have been sent to the card printer for processing)

if there is any further enquiries about the membership card collection, please feel free to pm me or Zardril about this and we'll contact you as soon as possible. :)

Can I join Arts & Entertainment at anytime? and will there be interview?
And I recently went for the Anime & Manga subcom when will I know if I got in or not?
Well the truth is my friends went to the A&E interview instead of the A&M that we decided together to join while I went to the A&M interview so I would like to join A&E if they got in instead of going A&M

>smallhitsugaya: We mainly have 3 types of events.

Anime & manga events cover anime screenings, drawing sessions where we teach you how to draw in anime style, outings to cosplay events where we gain SEAL points for attending the events.

The cuisine have cooking sessions where you learn various recipes of japanese food like Korroke, Wagashi, Takoyaki, Onigiri, Kare-raisu, Agedashi tofu and Chawanmushi as well as follow the demonstrations by cuisine subcommittee and how to cook these dishes yourself. Occasionally, there are Japanese restaurant outings too.

We also have general events like Natsu Matsuri, summer festival, and outings to Japanese schools. We have bonding sessions like barbeque and chalet too. =)

Arts & entertainment committee does j-rock/j-pop concert screenings, japanese movie screenings, learn to fold origami and kirigami, appreciation of tea ceremony.

The publicity design team design banners, posters signboards, and flyers for all the events. They create any art related assets for JCG. SEAL points will be awarded for each event they helped in the design.

The frequency the events is once per month. Hence, this week if we have anime screening, next week might be cooking session and concert screening for the week following, all in the same month.

Assuming your interview fails, you are required to seek the subcommittee leader of the subcommittee you now intend to join and inform him of your enquiry.
