For me i dont really do guidelines , just my style is more towards Semi realism rather than 100% anime . I cant do chibi with my style eg . usuallly my way of doing realism to semi anime = Give anime eyes , nose and brows but every aspect else = according to RL.

Ah i understand. i use it often too. Very actually.
All styles are accepted. i like looking at different styles of drawing though some are hard for me.
If u can imagine realism, its only a step down to manga. Its how u imagine the 3d shape of a 2d picture. Its now very common in animes i think. You can realise/imagine the characters in 3d easier than the older styles. This may also be the reason these character figurines are possible to be made.

In short, don't just look at it from a 2D perspective. Chibi could be seen as 3d and drawn 2d

 Well i tend to draw more game- like characters rather than anime ones , although my roots of drawing was from japanese manga (yu yu hakusho lol) . but as in sec sch i took art and teacher forced us to draw realism , I adepted my style to smth in the middle and stuck with it . Devil May Cry now is my main source of inspiration
