Alright I'm slow with the news. Apparently there's a new maid cafe over at Iluma, the not-so-new-already shopping centre at Bugis. It's called Tora Shabu.

There was an article about it in mypaper.sg. Translation by Cyrus from SGCafe.

Quote

*i did this DIRECT translation casually...so forgive me if its not proper newspaper language but you get the gist*

"EBIBOSHI", The latest in Japanese Eateries debuted here last month on the 28th along with a "Japanese Street " Restaurant Layout. Just like a few other restaurants who have adopted this similar concept, "Ebiboshi" has attracted 7 different authentic Japanese eateries such as Nagano's "Katsumiya", Hokkaido's "Menya Manpei" etc......

Within the whole restaurant space of about 10,000sq. ft, there are a total of 416 seats, with "Ancient Japanese Street" settings.
Besides its general open concept combined eateries, "Ebiboshi" features 2 independent restaurants: "Tora Shabu" - the first "Maid" themed restaurant, originating from Akihabara's Maid Cafe. The "Maids" not only serve as waitresses, they also join the customers in a series of games, and allow photo-taking for keepstakes/as souvenirs.

The other independent restaurant featured - "Tsubohachi" - houses Japan's largest in-house brewery/sake collection F&B organization. The restaurant branch @ Ebiboshi Japanese Street in Iluma also marks their first business venture outside of Japan.

Lol, its not a maid cafe. I ate there before and there were no peeps dressed up in maid costumes. Its just that the exterior design of the place has some ninja life size figurine.
Instead, I was exposed to something interesting that other Jap restaurants in Singapore don't have. The menu has this button to each dish that you can order by pressing the sensor pen gadget on the button. The pen gadget also has the mini speaker that repeats your order to you. I found it so cool, but its kinda troublesome too. xP
At one point of time, one of the staff was hitting some taiko drum that shocked me while I was eating. I have no idea what they did that for, lol.
As for the food, I ordered ramen, its pretty normal. =)

Actually there is. It's not the restaurant. I watched on channel u, On the beat4 (都市大發現) they say it's some wine house next door. And they filmed it. There are waitress in maid costumes!

A maid cafe eh.....never been or seen one before. If there is a chance to go...well i'll think about it. But a big group decending there will cause the maids to get frightened lol XD(joking)

I'm a regular arcade player in Iluma so I know this restaurant quite well... The first time they started introducing a maid into their shop was...very bad
Haven't went down there for a while now, will probably check it out tomorrow :D
